What is Botox®?

Botox® is the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure in the world. A brief description of this treatment is that you are injected with Botox®, and it impacts the way your muscles contract and move. In turn, this can lead to a significant reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

To go into more detail, Botox® is a brand name that refers to something called botulinum toxin. Effectively, this substance is what’s injected into your skin during the treatment. It’s commonly used to eradicate forehead lines, crow’s feet, and other regular problem areas for wrinkles on the face. No surgery is required, and this treatment has been around and FDA-approved since 2002.

About Botulinum Toxin

If you really want to understand how Botox® works, you need to look at botulinum toxin. This is a specific toxin that blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, stopping your muscles from moving. During the treatment, this toxin is injected into the muscles responsible for facial expressions. For instance, you target the muscles that make you frown or smile. The idea is that botulinum toxin will stop these muscles from moving, which prevents wrinkles from forming.

This makes Botox® a considerably different treatment from other popular injectable options – like dermal fillers. By targeting the muscles in your face, you will see very fast and long-lasting results.

Benefits of Botox®

All of our Botox® treatments are conducted by licensed medical professionals who are trained in facial anatomy. As a result, you will receive a treatment that yields many impressive benefits. Primarily, Botox® helps to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines on the face. It is commonly used to get rid of forehead wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet, marionette lines, and nasolabial folds. The treatment only lasts 15 minutes, making it highly beneficial for someone that wants a quick cosmetic procedure on their lunch break. It’s also considered a no-downtime treatment, so you can carry on with your day without needing to recover!

The wonderful effects of Botox® should be apparent within 3-days, so it’s very fast-acting! Furthermore, the effects remain for between 4-6 months, meaning you can go months between appointments. Overall, it’s a highly beneficial and effective option for anyone that wants to look younger and eradicate wrinkles.

Am I a Candidate for Botox®?

Do you suffer from wrinkles or fine lines that are caused by making different facial expressions? Many people can’t help but subconsciously frown or squint their eyes all the time, making wrinkles appear far sooner than they should. If this applies to you, Botox® might be the perfect treatment option. It’s also a great idea if you don’t want a surgical procedure, though it may not suit people with a fear of injections. Don’t worry, everything will be discussed at your consultation to ensure you receive the correct treatment.
