QWO®

Did you know 90% of women struggling with cellulite?

It’s true. 9 out of 10 women have cellulite, and it causes major self-esteem issues. Cellulite’s biggest misconception is that it’s caused by diet and exercise. Cellulite is not your fault, and finally, there’s a treatment. It’s called QWO®, and Manhattan Aesthetics is pleased to be among the first in the nation to bring this game-changing cellulite treatment to our patients.

What Exactly is Cellulite?

Cellulite most frequently occurs around the thighs and buttocks of women. Fibrous bands of collagen called septae run vertically between the surface of the skin and the underlying tissues of the fascia. Cellulite occurs when septae are not long enough, pulling the skin down in dimples. Fat cells meant to cushion the buttocks and thighs bulge between the septae, creating a “quilted” effect. Because cellulite fat is not fuel the body can burn, it cannot be reduced through diet and exercise, making it particularly insidious.

How Does Qwo® Work?

Now there’s QWO®, the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for cellulite that actually works. Creams and lotions promise results, but if they work, they’re typically temporary and subtle enough that results are hardly noticeable. QWO® introduces an enzyme, collagenase, into cellulite, which targets types 1 and 3 collagen fibers that make up septae. QWO® dissolves these fibers, releasing the skin from the bridge of tissue that pulls it too tight and causes the dimpling.

QWO® is the first treatment of its kind. Previous dermatological cellulite treatments were more invasive than many patients felt comfortable undergoing. As an injectable, QWO® is the first minimally-invasive treatment that doesn’t involve significant recovery time.

Am I a Good Candidate?

In clinical trials, 30% of the women participating were purposefully chosen with Fitzpatrick skin types classified as IV, V, and VI, which means women of all ethnicities, ages, skin colors, and body types are candidates for QWO® Nearly all women get cellulite in the buttocks, so if you’re self-conscious of the dimpling of your skin, want to look better in a bathing suit, and have been waiting for a truly effective cellulite treatment, QWO® may be right for you.

What is the Treatment and Recovery Like?

Your Manhattan Aesthetics injection specialist can administer QWO® with as much ease and expertise as we do Botox® or dermal fillers. Many patients even report QWO® is a less painful injection than Botox®. After your skin is marked for ideal injection placement, QWO®  is administered and the collagenase gets to work while you return to your regular daily routine. The entire treatment takes about 30 minutes.

As with any injectable aesthetic treatment, injection site tenderness, bruising, and swelling are possible, and studies show it can last up to two weeks. QWO® works best after 3 sessions scheduled 3-4 weeks apart.

What Results Will I See?*

Initial studies have shown QWO® reduces the appearance of cellulite for even severe cases, and does so for years. You can expect improvement as early as 3 weeks from your first injections.

At Manhattan Aesthetics, we’re committed to providing our patients with the highest caliber of treatments that get results. It’s why we’re often the first in New York to introduce new technologies and medicines. QWO® is yet another example of that. It’s cutting-edge cellulite treatment without the cutting.
