Hyper Pigmentation
Do you have unwanted dark spots throughout the face and body?
Is it becoming more and more difficult to conceal pigmentation problems with makeup? Do you feel your aging face doesn’t reflect how you feel on the inside? Would you like a way to feel more comfortable in your own skin without the need for extensive recovery? Dark spots, or hyperpigmentation, are a common condition affecting all ages. It is most commonly the result of overexposure to the sun, but can also be caused by acne, hormonal changes, allergies, or conditions of the skin. It is more common in people with darker complexions. What Treatment Options Do I Have?
At Manhattan Aesthetics, we offer various treatments to remove dark spots, including chemical peels, laser treatments, and Photofacial treatments. With our wide range of treatment options, we’re sure to have something to help anyone reverse unwanted pigmentation problems. Let’s take a look at just a few of your treatment choices when it comes to hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and sunspots.
IPL is a non-invasive treatment option that uses light energy to selectively target and remove pigmented lesions. Photofacial procedures trigger your body’s natural self-healing process allowing for long-lasting collagen production. Treatments are quick, easy, and don’t require any downtime. While minor sun damage can be corrected with a single session, most patients need a series of in-office treatments to get the results they want.
Chemical peeling is an excellent choice for dark spot removal. Manhattan Aesthetics offers a variety of proprietary chemical peels containing trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and glycolic acid, designed to create superficial injuries that stimulate a wound-healing response just potent enough to remove the dark spot. Peeling treatments are usually administered in a series of 3-4 sessions, but newer sun spots can often be zapped with just 1 peel.
Aerolase is an advanced laser treatment that uses powerful, yet gentle light energy to trigger collagen production at deep levels. The non-invasive procedure leaves surrounding tissue unharmed making it entirely painless. Aerolase is the ideal procedure for patients with severe pigmentation issues including rosacea and melasma. Several Aerolase treatments may be necessary to achieve an optimal outcome.
The Excel V+ laser was created to specifically address reds, purples, browns, and blues. The Excel V+ procedure is comfortable, not causing any more discomfort than a snap of a rubber band on your skin. Your Manhattan Aesthetics laser expert will move the Excel V+ handpiece over the skin to treat hyperpigmentation and melasma.
Am I A Good Candidate?
You’re most likely a good candidate for pigmentation treatments if you are bothered by sun-damaged skin or have pigmented lesions due to acne or surgical scars. Dark spot removal treatments are typically non-invasive making them safe for many skin types and tones. Because treatments are highly-personalized, we’re able to ensure you get the maximum benefits according to your individual needs.
While we’re able to combat hyperpigmentation throughout the face and body, the most popular dark spot removal treatment areas include;
Face
Neck
Chest
Hands
The best way to determine which procedure is right for you is through an in-person consultation. Your Manhattan Aesthetics practitioner will perform a full evaluation of your concerns and speak with you about your short and long-term goals. Together you can create a customized treatment plan to effectively get the results you want with as little downtime as possible.
PATIENT TESTIMONIALS
How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?
Treatment times can vary depending on which procedure you’ve enlisted as well as the severity of your condition. Some treatments like certain chemical peels can be done in as little as 15-minutes. Other treatments can take upwards of 45-minutes. In most cases, you can expect to be in and out of the office within the hour. Patients who opt for the application of a topical anesthetic for their procedure should arrive early and account for additional time in-office.
What Results Will I See?*
Treating pigmentation issues does not happen immediately. Treatments can be done in a variety of ways to remove unwanted lesions. While one treatment may use exfoliation methods, another might be designed to break down pigmentation allowing your body to naturally reabsorb dead cells. Either way, you can typically see gradual and progressive results starting about 1-week post-treatment.
Is There Any Downtime?
The amount of recovery you’ll need is commonly minimal with dark spot treatments. Many non-invasive treatments let you get back to your normal routine without restrictions immediately following your appointment. More aggressive treatments may require several days and up to a week for a full recovery. Your skilled practitioner will create a personalized recovery plan based on your treatment.
