What Is Cellulite & Why Do I Have It?

Cellulite is a condition that leaves the skin dimpled or lumpy. While the exact cause of cellulite is unknown, genetics can play a large role in who gets it. Fluctuations in weight, as well as the natural aging process, can also affect your chances of getting cellulite. Common areas for cellulite include the hips, thighs, and buttocks but the condition can appear throughout the body. Unfortunately, cellulite doesn’t typically go away on its own and at-home remedies have little effect.

How Do Cellulite Treatments Work?

Cellulite removal involves a gentle, non-invasive procedure with no discomfort whatsoever. Your practitioner will evaluate the affected areas before calibrating the settings of the chosen laser to provide you with the best possible outcome. Cellulite treatments effectively melt the fat cells, which are then reabsorbed and flushed through the body’s natural metabolic processes.

What Are the Treatment Options for Cellulite?

At Manhattan Aesthetics, we offer several non-invasive cellulite treatments. Depending on the type of cellulite you have and the severity of your condition, you may be better suited for one over the other. Your skin care specialist will help determine which procedure is right for you during your initial consultation.

QWO™

Qwo™ introduces an enzyme, collagenase, into cellulite, which targets types 1 and 3 collagen fibers that make up septae. This injectable dissolves these fibers, releasing the skin from the bridge of tissue that pulls it too tight and causes the dimpling. Qwo™ is the first treatment of its kind. As an injectable, Qwo™ is the first minimally-invasive treatment that doesn’t involve significant recovery time.

ThermiSmooth®

ThermiSmooth® is a revolutionary cellulite removal treatment that also helps patients tighten loose or sagging skin. Advanced radio frequency (RF) technology stimulates long-term collagen production for lasting results that are entirely painless. Most patients undergo a series of 4-treatments to get optimal skin tightening effects and rid themselves of cellulite.

TruSculpt® 3D

TruSculpt® 3D is a highly effective procedure for both cellulite and fat reduction. The aggressive radiofrequency (RF) wavelengths heat the mid-layer of dermis targeting unwanted cellulite cells and preparing them for metabolization. Most patients can see noticeable results with just one TruSculpt® 3D treatment.*

Am I A Good Candidate for Cellulite Treatments?

With a variety of procedures for cellulite removal, we’re able to help just about anyone enjoy smoother, more youthful skin. Our non-invasive treatments are safe for all skin types, textures, and tones. Cellulite removal treatments can be done on their own or paired with other procedures for a synergistic approach to long-term cellulite removal.

Cellulite procedures can be done throughout the body. However, the most common treatment sites typically include;

Hips
Thighs
Buttocks
Breasts
Upper Arms

PATIENT TESTIMONIALS

5/5
*Individual results may vary.

How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?

Treatment times may vary based on the procedure used and the extent of your condition. While TruSculpt® 3D takes just 25-minutes per area, ThermiSmooth® typically takes anywhere from 15-45 minutes. Both procedures are entirely comfortable and well-tolerated among patients. In most cases, patients can expect to be in and out of the office within the hour.

What Results Will I See?*

Cellulite reduction procedures have immediate firming effects with gradual improvement over time. The best results with TruSculpt® 3D can be seen in about 3-weeks. ThermiSmooth® treatments have an optimal outcome in about 3-months. However, ThermiSmooth® for skin tightening and cellulite often has longer-lasting results for up to 1-year or more.

Is There Any Downtime?

Neither TruSculpt® 3D or ThermiSmooth® entails any downtime. Day-to-day activities can be resumed directly following treatment. Non-invasive cellulite treatments do not harm surrounding tissue making side effects minimal. Your skin care specialist will provide you with details on any after-treatment restrictions for your individual procedure.
