What is Microneedling?

Here at Manhattan Aesthetics, we try to provide the best treatments for every cosmetic problem you might have. Typically, most people have a range of skin issues that can make them self-conscious. Some of these concerns could be hyperpigmentation, scarring, stretch marks, and so on. Thus, we utilize the latest and greatest cosmetic treatments to improve your complexion – including the highly sought-after microneedling procedure.

Microneedling is often referred to as collagen induction therapy because of the processes it triggers in your body. It’s a relatively pain-free treatment, using a unique device that creates micro-injuries in the skin. This treatment helps to trigger the body’s defenses, encouraging a swarm of collagen and elastin to rise to the surface. In turn, the presence of these two things can rejuvenate your skin, improving both its texture and appearance.

Types of Microneedling

Contrary to popular belief, there’s more than one type of microneedling treatment. At Manhattan Aesthetics, our cosmetic experts offer two different variations:

  • Traditional microneedling
  • Vivace RF microneedling

Traditional Microneedling

Traditional microneedling is the procedure described in the introduction. We use an advanced microneedling pen that moves up and down, creating tiny little punctures in your skin. From here, you will experience an increase in collagen and elastin production.

Vivace RF Microneedling

Vivace RF microneedling is slightly different in the way it is performed. For starters, we use the unique Vivace system for this treatment. It consists of a special 36 gold-plated needle tip that utilizes radio frequency (RF) to generate heat. The Vivace system is programmed depending on the patient’s needs, and the tip produces puncture wounds while also delivering heat into the skin. The benefit of the RF heat energy is that  it increases collagen and elastin production even more. In theory, this can present even better results for patients.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling is such a popular treatment because it works for a range of cosmetic skin problems. It is proven to reverse the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles, minimize acne scars, reduce skin damage/hyperpigmentation, improve stretch marks, and leave your skin with a much-improved tone and texture. It does all of this with no surgery required and minimal downtime.

This treatment is also considered to be one of the longest-lasting around. You will see results for approximately 12 months, sometimes more – thanks to the new collagen and elastin in your skin. It’s also a treatment that can be tailored to your individual needs with ease. Some patients only need one or two mild sessions to treat minor complexion concerns, while others can have more intense sessions to help with scarring or stretch marks.

Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?

Since microneedling doesn’t involve surgery or injecting substances into the body, it is safe and effective for most people. If you suffer from complexion issues – regardless of what they are – microneedling can probably help you with them. Ultimately, if you want a minimally-invasive and long-lasting way of rejuvenating your skin, you could be a candidate for microneedling or Vivace RF microneedling.
