What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is an injectable treatment used to treat facial lines and wrinkles. We use Sculptra® almost anywhere on the face to enhance and smooth your features. It works for fine and deep wrinkles around the mouth and nose, including marionette lines and nasolabial folds. Sculptra® triggers collagen production to achieve natural-looking results that outlast typical fillers by a year or more.
How Does Sculptra® Work?
Unlike typical dermal fillers, Sculptra® does not add immediate volume. It uses a material called poly-L-lactic acid that also has medical and surgical uses. When injected, it triggers cells to begin producing collagen, the structural protein that gives your skin volume and support. This new collagen lifts and plumps lines and wrinkles to make them smoother and less visible.
How Long Does it Take to See Sculptra® Results?
While some people may only need one Sculptra® treatment, others will need two or three. You may start to notice results three to four months after your first treatment. Results will continue to improve for up to six months after your final session. The number of sessions needed depends on how much collagen we seek to restore. Since all of us lose collagen in different ways as we age, Sculptra® offers customizable options.
How Long Do Sculptra® Results Last?
Most dermal fillers fade as the body eliminates the material. Sculptra® results last longer because it causes the body to produce its own collagen. The production of collagen continues for months after treatment. Sculptra® results can last two years or more between touch-ups. Collagen will naturally fade over time, so you will need occasional maintenance treatments to keep lines and wrinkles looking smoother.
Is There Any Downtime With Sculptra®?
Sculptra® treatments only take about 15 minutes, and you can return to your usual activities immediately. You will not require any downtime after your injections. Some people notice minor swelling, redness, or bruising after treatment. You can use makeup to cover this after about four hours, and these effects will fade within a few days.
Am I a Good Candidate for Sculptra®?
Almost anyone makes a good candidate for Sculptra®. Ideal candidates seek natural-looking, youthful results. You can have Sculptra® on the face or body to generate collagen and add volume. Sculptra® is not suitable for use on the lips or around the eyes, but we have other fillers available to treat these areas.
