How Long Do Chemical Peels Last?

Manhattan Chemical Peels

Sun, weather, and many other factors can damage the surface layers of your skin, leaving it looking dull and rough. Chemical peels remove the outermost layers of skin cells, revealing bright, healthy ones beneath. These customizable treatments can restore youthful clarity and smoothness to your skin.

What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical facial peels exfoliate your skin by breaking apart dull, lifeless layers. Your Manhattan Aesthetics provider will choose a chemical peel based on your goals and lifestyle. More intensive peels require more downtime, but you can expect results to last longer.

Manhattan Chemical Peels

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

Chemical peels use acids to break up and remove the layers of dead, damaged surface skin. A light peel may remove the top layers of skin to brighten and clarify, while a deeper peel can remove more significant damage by peeling away more layers of skin. Chemical peels trigger cell renewal for more youthful-looking skin. They also stimulate collagen production to firm and smooth your skin over time.

How Long Do Chemical Peels Last?

We offer a wide range of chemical peels to meet your skin’s needs. We also want to ensure that you can achieve your desired results in a way that works with your schedule. The lightest peels work well to improve surface issues and give you glowing skin. They require little to no downtime, and results can last several weeks. A medium peel may have results lasting several months. A deep peel will require some recovery time, but you will only have one.

What Can Chemical Peels Treat?

Chemical peels can treat most skin concerns, from superficial dullness to deep layers of damage. As your skin heals after your peel, you will see brighter, smoother skin. Depending on the depth of the peel, you can see:

  • Clearer skin and tighter pores
  • Diminished lines and wrinkles
  • Less acne scarring
  • Decrease in sun damage and dark spots
  • Improvements in hyperpigmentation
  • Better skin texture and tone
  • Firmer and more resilient skin

Is There Any Downtime With Chemical Peels?

After a light chemical peel, you may have no downtime. Some people have minor redness or sensitivity lasting a few hours or days. You will look brighter and more refreshed almost immediately. After a medium peel, you may have some redness and peeling lasting a few days. While this will not limit your activities, you may wish to avoid social situations till it improves. After a deep peel, your skin will need two to three weeks to heal.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels are so customizable that almost anyone makes a good candidate. Even sensitive skin can benefit from a light facial peel. If you have skin concerns ranging from dullness to lines and wrinkles, a chemical peel may be right for you. You should not have a chemical peel if you have a skin infection or broken skin on your face.

What is Botox® Made Of?

Botox Manhattan

Facial expressions require a symphony of coordinated muscle movements. Some of these movements crease and fold the skin until it develops lines and wrinkles. Botox® stops these muscles so your skin can relax and become smooth. Botox® can let you look noticeably younger without a fake or overdone appearance.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is a wrinkle relaxer injected into facial muscles to improve lines and wrinkles. At Manhattan Aesthetics, our expert injectors have been approved by Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox®. This injectable treatment works by blocking facial nerves from telling muscles to contract. This stops the muscles from creating wrinkles.

Botox Manhattan

What is Botox® Made Of?

Botox® uses a protein called botulinum toxin. A species of bacteria produce this toxin, which can cause rare cases of food poisoning. Botulinum toxin is extremely safe in the tiny doses used for facial injections. This protein interacts with nerves and stops them from releasing a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. Without this signal, facial muscles become relaxed and smoother. Lines and wrinkles soften and disappear.

What is Botox® Used For?

Botox® has many medical and aesthetic uses. Medically, it can treat excessive sweating, muscle spasms, and other conditions involving overactive muscles or nerves. Aesthetic uses include:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead lines
  • Glabellar lines between the eyebrows
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Neck bands
  • “Gummy” smile
  • Lip lines

Some lines and wrinkles respond better to Botox® than others. You will see the best results with wrinkles caused by muscle movement. Wrinkles caused by sagging skin may respond better to another treatment.

How Much Does Botox® Cost?

Providers set their own prices for Botox®, and this will vary widely by location. Some providers measure Botox® in units, while others charge by the area. The average price per unit is about $14. Most people will need around twenty units to achieve their desired results. We recommend a consultation to provide an accurate estimate based on your goals.

What Results Will I See With Botox®?

Botox® results can take seven to ten days to develop. Botox® has been used for medical purposes for decades and found to be very safe. It can last from three to five months, depending on your individual response. You can expect to see lines and wrinkles soften and become less noticeable. An expert injector will make sure your results look entirely natural.

Is There Any Downtime With Botox®?

You can resume your usual activities immediately after your appointment. You might have some sensitivity or bruising in the injection area, but this will go away within a few days. You should avoid rubbing your face or engaging in strenuous activity for a day after treatment.

How Does SculpSure® Work?

SculpSure® body sculpting uses laser energy that travels through the skin to the underlying layers of fat. When the fat cells absorb this energy, it damages them and causes them to break apart. Your lymphatic system will filter the remnants of these fat cells out of the body over the following weeks.

What is SculpSure® Treatment Like?

SculpSure® uses four applicators that contact the skin. The applicators emit pulses of laser energy alternating with cooling cycles. This alternating temperature keeps the skin comfortable while heating the fat cells to an effective temperature. Most people have no trouble with discomfort during treatment, and some even take a nap. Treatment usually takes less than half an hour, and you can return to your usual activities afterward.

How Much Does SculpSure® Cost?

The price of SculpSure® treatments varies depending on the areas being treated, your location, and your chosen provider. The average cost of SculpSure® is $2150. At Manhattan Aesthetics, we frequently have special offers for this popular treatment that can give you a significant discount.

What Results Will I See With SculpSure®?

You may see results within six weeks, but it will take about three months to see your full body sculpting results. You may need more than one session to achieve your treatment goals. The treated areas will look slimmer and more sculpted, revealing the figure you have worked to achieve.

Is There Any Downtime With SculpSure®?

SculpSure® requires no downtime, and you can return to work immediately after treatment. Your skin in the treated areas will be more sensitive to the sun for a week or two, so make sure to use SPF to protect it.

Am I a Good Candidate for SculpSure®?

If you have a BMI of 30 or less or are within 30 pounds of your target weight, you may be a good candidate for SculpSure®. Ideal candidates have reasonable expectations about their results. SculpSure® is not a weight loss treatment, but you will lose noticeable amounts of fat.

How Long Does Kybella® Last?

Kybella New York City

Do you have to lift your chin or turn your head a certain way for photos to hide the fullness under your chin? A double chin is a common problem, but it can still make you self-conscious. Kybella® can remove excess fat from under your chin. As a result, your neck looks slimmer, and your chin looks more defined.

What is Kybella®?

Kybella® is the first injectable treatment approved by the FDA for submental (under the chin) fullness. Your Manhattan Aesthetics provider will inject Kybella® into your double chin to break down fat cells. Results appear gradually as your body filters away these damaged cells. Kybella® offers a non-surgical, non-scarring method of fat removal with no recovery time.

Kybella New York City

How Does Kybella® Work?

Kybella® uses a molecule called deoxycholic acid. This molecule occurs in your digestive system and helps your body break up fats so it can use them. When injected, Kybella® targets fat cells and causes them to break apart. Your lymphatic system will remove the remnants of these cells, leaving you with a slimmer, more defined neck and jaw.  For people genetically predisposed to accumulate fat in the submental area, Kybella® offers a solution that lets them do what diet and exercise could not.

How Long Does Kybella® Last?

Unlike most injectable treatments, Kybella® has lasting results. The fat cells removed by Kybella® will not grow back. However, the fat cells still in the area can expand if you gain weight. Maintaining a stable weight will let you keep your Kybella® results indefinitely.

What Results Will I See With Kybella®?

Most people need more than one round of Kybella® injections to remove the amount of fat they want. Kybella® usually requires between three and six treatments for maximum results. We space these treatments one month apart. You may see results as soon as two weeks after treatment. They will continue to improve for several months as you continue with your treatment.

Is There Any Downtime With Kybella®?

You can return to your normal activities after Kybella® treatment. However, you should expect some swelling and soreness. The swelling can last for several days. You may also see other effects like bruising or hard areas where you had injections. You may choose to take a day to recover since symptoms will significantly improve after about 24 hours.

Am I a Good Candidate for Kybella®?

If you have a double chin, you may be a good candidate for Kybella®. Ideal candidates have reasonable expectations and have a positive attitude toward treatment. We recommend that if you have Kybella®, you commit to maintaining a steady weight so your results can last for as long as you want them to.

Where Can Botox® Be Used?

Manhattan Botox And Dermal Fillers

Botox® was approved in 2002 for cosmetic use, but it has been used since 1989 for medical purposes. This versatile muscle relaxer treats conditions all over the face, neck, and body. Botox® can smooth lines and wrinkles to give you a more youthful, refreshed appearance, but it can also stop conditions like excessive sweating and muscle spasms.

What is Botox® (Botulinum Toxin)?

Botox® is an injectable treatment that relaxes muscles. It smooths wrinkles by stopping the activity of the muscles that cause them. Botox® is FDA-approved to treat crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, and vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). It also has many approved and off-label medical uses. Off-label aesthetic uses include the neck area, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines.

Manhattan Botox

How Does Botox® Work?

Botox® and similar muscle relaxers use a lab-produced version of botulinum toxin. It works by targeting nerves that control your facial muscles. Nerves signal to muscles with a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. Botox® temporarily stops these signals, so the muscle stops contracting, and your skin can relax and become smooth. At Manhattan Aesthetics, our Allergan-recognized expert injectors use skill and artistry to inject Botox® in a way that leaves you looking refreshed, not startled or frozen.

Where Can Botox® Be Used?

Botox® has a wide range of uses, both FDA-approved and off-label. These include:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead lines
  • Glabellar lines between the eyebrows
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Excessive sweating
  • Management of acne
  • Neck lines and bands
  • Migraines
  • Muscle spasms
  • Eyelid spasms
  • Overactive bladder
  • Lift the lips or nose

What is the Difference Between Botox® and Fillers?

Botox® and dermal fillers both smooth lines and wrinkles. However, they work in different ways and on different kinds of wrinkles. Botox® works well on expression lines and wrinkles that occur as a result of muscle motion. Dermal fillers work better on deep, stationary lines and wrinkles. You can also use dermal fillers in areas where you do not want the muscle-relaxing effects of Botox®.

What Results Will I See With Botox®?

Botox® results may appear within a few days after treatment, but they take a week to ten days to become completely visible. Botox® results usually last three to four months. They may last up to six months, especially for people who have regular Botox® treatments. You will see lines and wrinkles soften and become smoother, letting you look rejuvenated and youthful.

Is There Any Downtime With Botox®?

Botox® does not require any downtime. You can return to your usual activities after treatment. You should avoid rubbing the treated areas for several hours after your injections to prevent moving the Botox® around. Some people see minor bruising or swelling that lasts a day or two.

What is the IPL PhotoFacial?

Face Treatments New York City

Are you bothered by signs of aging, sun damage, or conditions like rosacea? An IPL PhotoFacial can correct a wide range of skin concerns with no invasive procedures. This treatment breaks up uneven pigmentation while triggering new collagen for a smoother, more youthful skin texture.

What is the IPL PhotoFacial?

An Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) PhotoFacial treats superficial skin issues like fine lines, acne scarring, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone. Unlike a laser, IPL uses a broad spectrum of light to target more skin concerns with one treatment. At Manhattan Aesthetics, we recommend IPL for skin resurfacing to give you a brighter, smoother complexion.

Ipl Manhattan

How Does an IPL PhotoFacial Work?

During an IPL treatment, pulses of light travel through the skin without harming it. When wavelengths of light hit red or brown pigment molecules, they heat the pigments and cause them to break apart. As the light reaches into the dermis, it triggers the cells there to begin producing more collagen. This new collagen will improve skin texture, firmness, and smoothness.

What is Getting an IPL PhotoFacial Like?

IPL PhotoFacial treatments take place with cooling gel on the skin to keep you comfortable. Some people report a tingling sensation during treatment. You will have covers placed over your eyes to protect them from the light. Each session may take about 30 to 60 minutes, although this depends on the size of the area you have treated.

How Much Does an IPL PhotoFacial Cost?

Pricing for a treatment like IPL can vary widely based on:

  • Your provider
  • Your location
  • The area being treated
  • How many treatments you need

The cost of an IPL PhotoFacial can range from $400 to $4500. Schedule a consultation to discuss your goals and get a better idea of what you can expect. IPL can cost considerably less than some types of laser skin resurfacing.

How Long Does an IPL PhotoFacial Last?

You will usually need several sessions of IPL before you see your best results. Most people benefit from three to six treatments. We will help determine how many sessions you may need based on your skin concerns.

How long your results last depends on many factors. Good sun protection will keep hyperpigmentation and other signs of sun damage from coming back as quickly. Your age, overall health, and skincare routine will all play a role. One to two maintenance treatments a year may be enough to keep your results looking refreshed and rejuvenated.

Am I a Good Candidate for an IPL PhotoFacial?

Most people make good candidates for an IPL PhotoFacial. This non-invasive light treatment is suitable for most skin types and tones. You may not make a good candidate if you have an active skin condition at the time of treatment.

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?

Laser Skin Resurfacing New York City

Has your skin started to show signs of aging, sun damage, or acne scarring? Laser skin resurfacing can give you smooth, even-toned skin. This treatment brightens and rejuvenates the skin using pulses of light energy.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a broad term that includes using a light-based treatment to trigger skin rejuvenation and improve texture and tone. At Manhattan Aesthetics, we prefer the IPL PhotoFacial for our laser skin resurfacing. IPL stands for “intense pulsed light.” Unlike most laser treatments, IPL uses many wavelengths of light simultaneously to target a variety of imperfections and signs of aging.

Laser Skin Resurfacing New York City

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing with IPL PhotoFacial Work?

As the light from the IPL PhotoFacial reaches the skin, it causes heat at the dermis level, the deep layers of the skin where new cell development begins. This triggers new collagen development and brings healthy new skin cells to the surface. As a result, skin looks smoother, brighter, and clearer. IPL makes an excellent treatment for reducing signs of aging and sun damage without skin damage or recovery time.

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?

The cost of laser skin resurfacing varies depending on the laser used. For an IPL PhotoFacial, the average price ranges from $400 to $500. Factors that affect your cost include your provider, location, and individual skin concerns.

What Can Laser Skin Resurfacing Treat?

Laser skin resurfacing with IPL can treat numerous skin concerns related to aging, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. You can see results in skin conditions, including:

  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores
  • Redness
  • Dullness
  • Rosacea
  • Visible blood vessels

IPL excels at addressing pigment concerns like hyperpigmentation and redness. Because it triggers collagen development, it also improves skin firmness and smooths lines, wrinkles, and uneven texture.

How Many Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments Do I Need?

Each type of laser skin resurfacing requires a different number of treatment sessions. For an IPL PhotoFacial, the number of treatments depends on your skin concerns and goals. You can have your initial series of treatments spaced one month apart. After this series, we recommend maintenance treatments as needed. You can help prolong your results by avoiding sun exposure and using quality skin care products.

Is There Any Downtime With IPL Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Many people notice redness after IPL that lasts a few days. You can cover this with gentle mineral makeup as needed. You can return to your usual activities when you finish your treatment. You will need sun protection as your skin heals.

How Many Emsculpt NEO® Sessions Do I Need?

EmSculpt NEO & truSculpt iD Manhattan

Even if you maintain a healthy lifestyle, you may have stubborn areas that refuse to respond. If you have tried to tone and sculpt these areas with no success, Emsculpt NEO® may be right for you. This treatment promotes muscle development and removes fat for twice the body contouring and fat loss. Unlike many other body sculpting treatments, Emsculpt NEO® builds muscle to improve your metabolism for ongoing fat burning.

What is Emsculpt NEO® Body Contouring?

Most body contouring treatments remove fat, leaving the area slimmer. Emsculpt NEO® provides muscle building and fat loss, so the treated area looks more slender, tighter, and toned. This treatment uses two different kinds of energy to stimulate muscle contractions and break down fat cells. Unlike many other treatments, Emsculpt NEO® works for people with a BMI as high as 35.

EmSculpt New York City

How Does Emsculpt NEO® Work?

Emsculpt NEO® combines high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology (HIFEM) with radiofrequency (RF) fat reduction. The HIFEM energy pulses signal your muscles to contract rapidly. One half-hour treatment can give you the same results as 20,000 squats or crunches. Simultaneously, RF energy heats the layers of fat under the skin, breaking down fat cells so the body can remove them.

How Many Emsculpt NEO® Sessions Do I Need?

One session in the gym will not give you the results you want, and one Emsculpt NEO® treatment usually will not either. Most people have four sessions over a few weeks. Since the treatment does not injure the skin, recovery time between sessions is almost nonexistent. After these four sessions, we recommend maintenance every six months since unused muscles will start to lose mass and tone.

How Much Does Emsculpt NEO® Cost?

The cost of your Emsculpt NEO® will vary depending on where you live and which provider you choose. Pricing for Emsculpt NEO® can range from $1500 to $4500, although the average cost is $3,125. Remember that our Manhattan Aesthetics team has the training and experience to help you get the best results from your Emsculpt NEO® treatments.

What Results Will I See With Emsculpt NEO®?

You may notice results within a few days of your first treatment. You will continue to see improvements as you have more treatments. The body will continue to remove fat for several more months, leading to gradual but noticeable slimming. After four treatments, people treated with Emsculpt NEO® can see up to 30% fat loss and 25% more muscle. You can also lose inches off your waist, thighs, or other areas.

Is There Any Downtime With Emsculpt NEO®?

Your muscles may feel sore as they would after a workout. You can return to work or other activities right after treatment. This non-invasive treatment does not harm the skin and requires no healing time.

How Aerolase® Can Treat Acne

Face Treatments New York City

You may have tried topical treatments and even prescription medications to treat your acne without seeing good results. With Aerolase®, you have an acne treatment option that addresses the underlying causes of acne. Aerolase® can help clear your skin and keep it clear, and it can even improve the appearance of acne scars.

What is Acne?

Many factors contribute to the development of acne, including genetics. Acne results when the skin over-produces oil from the sebaceous glands. Bacteria feed on this oil, causing inflammation and painful breakouts. Stress, hormones, and other factors can worsen acne.

How Aerolase® Can Treat Acne

Topical acne treatments have limited effectiveness, and oral medications can come with unpleasant side effects. Aerolase® offers a non-invasive, gentle acne treatment that can clear even severe and stubborn acne. The Aerolase® laser uses LightPod Neo (1064nm) light energy in pulses lasting a billionth of a second to treat your acne without causing any overheating or trauma to the skin.

Aerolase® improves your acne in three ways:

  • Stops the sebaceous glands from over-producing oil
  • Kills acne-causing bacteria
  • Reduces redness and scarring

The applicator never touches your skin, and you will feel almost nothing during your treatment. The laser wavelengths target the deep layers of skin where the sebaceous glands are found.

What Else Can Aerolase® Do?

Aerolase® has many applications other than an acne treatment. This gentle, effective laser also triggers the skin cells to produce more collagen, boosting skin’s smoothness and firmness. Aerolase® safely treats pigmentation concerns, including melasma, and even improves the appearance of scars from past acne breakouts.

What Results Will I See With Aerolase®?

Most people will need four to six treatments to get acne under control. Because Aerolase® causes no injury to the skin, you can have treatment every one to two weeks. You can maintain your clear skin with maintenance treatments. How often you need these treatments will depend on your acne and the factors that affect it. Regular treatments will keep the skin clear, smooth away old acne scars, and prevent the appearance of new ones.

Am I a Good Candidate for Aerolase®?

If you have difficult acne that has not responded to other treatments, you may be a good candidate for Aerolase®. This gentle treatment can be used on active acne breakouts or very sensitive skin, making it safe for almost everyone.

Is There Any Downtime With Aerolase®?

You will not require any downtime after your Aerolase® treatment. You can return to work or any other activities. Your skin will need sun protection for several weeks following treatment to prevent sun damage.

What is truSculpt®?

Top 5 Benefits of truSculpt® ID

Some areas of stubborn fat refuse to shrink no matter how hard you try. When your efforts haven’t given you the results you want, truSculpt® offers a safe, non-invasive option. Treatment with truSculpt® can reduce your difficult fat and help you achieve a slimmer, more sculpted figure.

What is truSculpt® Body Contouring?

The truSculpt® system uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to deliver wavelengths of energy that target fat cells. It breaks apart the treated fat cells so the body can filter them away. Unlike most noninvasive body contouring, truSculpt® works even on patients with a higher BMI, so more people can benefit from treatment.

The truSculpt® 3D system uses RF energy to heat the deeper layers of skin and fat. The heat damages fat cells, resulting in their removal by the body. You can have truSculpt® 3D in areas including:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks or love handles
  • Thighs
  • Arms
  • Under the chin
  • Bra rolls
  • Buttocks

The truSculpt® iD system is an advanced version of the truSculpt® 3D. Six applicators allow truSculpt® iD to simultaneously treat larger areas or more than one area. The applicators monitor skin temperature to ensure your skin stays comfortable throughout your treatment.

How Does truSculpt® Work?

Most body contouring methods take up to an hour and require more than one session to achieve results. With truSculpt®, you can see results with one treatment that takes about fifteen minutes. The RF energy is targeted to heat deeper skin and fat layers without causing too much heat to the skin. You may feel some warmth, but nothing uncomfortable. The RF energy causes the fat cells to break down. Over several weeks your body will remove the damaged cells, leaving the area looking more contoured and slender.

EmSculpt® Neo or truSculpt® for Body Contouring?

These two treatments reduce fat, but in different ways. While truSculpt® directly targets fat cells, EmSculpt® Neo builds muscle to help your body burn more fat. It uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic field (HIFEM) energy to stimulate muscle contractions. The effect is similar to using those muscles in a workout but much faster. You can target fat effectively with truSculpt®, while EmSculpt® Neo tones and builds muscle to help your metabolism burn fat faster.

How Many truSculpt® Treatments Will I Need?

Many people can see results with one truSculpt® treatment. Some people may need more if they have more fat to remove. Since treatments only take fifteen minutes and require no downtime, they fit easily into your active schedule and will not slow you down.

What Results Will I See With truSculpt®?

Some results may be visible immediately, but it may take up to twelve weeks for your body to finish removing the damaged cells. You can lose as much as 35% fat from the treated areas. Treated areas look slimmer and more contoured, helping you achieve your desired figure.
