How Many Vials of Sculptra® Do I Need?

New York City Sculp Sure

As you age, your facial skin gradually loses collagen. As a result, it loses firmness and flexibility, causing lines, wrinkles, and deep folds. Sculptra® works to plump and smooth lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. It also adds volume to your facial features to help you look revitalized and healthy.

What is Sculptra®?

While most dermal fillers take effect in a few days and last a few months, Sculptra® takes several months to see maximum results. However, these results last much longer than most other dermal fillers, up to three years. At Manhattan Aesthetics, Sculptra® is injected by our expert aestheticians to help you achieve the best results. Sculptra® can treat even the most challenging lines and wrinkles, add facial volume, and enhance your buttocks.

EmSculpt New York City

How Does Sculptra® Work?

Sculptra® uses synthetic poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). It matches the natural PLLA found in the body, making it well-tolerated and safe. Sculptra® works by signaling skin cells and stimulating collagen production. This new collagen supports, lifts, and smooths the skin from beneath, giving you natural-looking wrinkle reduction and more contoured features. Many people benefit from more than one Sculptra® treatment to achieve their desired results. On average, most people will have three treatment sessions

How Many Vials of Sculptra® Do I Need?

Your Manhattan Aesthetics provider will assess your needs and determine how many vials of Sculptra® you may need for treatment. Some people may only need one or two vials for each treatment session, while others may need more. The average person will receive six to eight vials throughout multiple treatment sessions. The exact amount of Sculptra® required depends on how much volume you want to add and the areas you have treated.

What is a Sculptra® Butt Lift?

While it excels as a dermal filler, Sculptra® can also add volume to the buttocks. Also called a liquid butt lift, this enhancement builds subtle but noticeable volume by increasing collagen. A Sculptra® butt lift works well for anyone who wants to add natural-looking volume without the downtime of other butt lifts. The number of vials required for a Sculptra® butt lift depends on how much buttock volume you want to add.

What Results Will I See With Sculptra®?

You may start to see results from Sculptra® within a few weeks, but it may take four to six months to see them develop ultimately. The volume develops gradually during this time, so your results look natural. While you may have some mild soreness after your injections, you will have no downtime and can return to all your usual activities.

How Long Does Emsculpt NEO® Last?

EmSculpt NEO®, Manhattan, & New York City

Imagine laying comfortably while the muscles in your abs do the equivalent of several weeks’ workouts. Now imagine that this system could painlessly break up fat at the same time. Emsculpt NEO® is the first system to combine these two methods for maximum results.

EmSculpt Manhattan

What is Emsculpt NEO®?

If your workout routine does not give you the muscle strength and definition you want, Emsculpt NEO® can help you achieve your goals. This body sculpting system uses two kinds of energy to build and tone muscle while breaking up fat cells. At Manhattan Aesthetics, you can have Emsculpt NEO® on your abdomen, thighs, arms, buttocks, and other areas. It has even been proven to target visceral fat, the unhealthy fat around your abdominal organs.

How Does Emsculpt NEO® Work?

The two kinds of energy in Emsculpt NEO® treatments work better together than alone. High-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy works by signaling muscles to contract much faster than signals could arrive from the brain. Throughout treatment, your muscles undergo the equivalent of hundreds of training hours. Radiofrequency (RF) energy warms and primes the muscles to respond to stress. It also heats fat cells, causing them to break down.

How Long Does Emsculpt NEO® Last?

After RF energy breaks up and removes fat cells, they will not grow back. The muscles built with Emsculpt NEO® require maintenance and, like all muscles, will lose mass and definition if not used. Emsculpt NEO® treatments once every six months can maintain your new muscle strength. You can help keep yourself looking toned and slim by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

What Results Will I See With Emsculpt NEO®?

Most people have four sessions over several weeks. Since Emsculpt NEO® does not damage anything except fat cells, you recover quickly and can return for another treatment. You will see up to 30% fat loss in the treated areas and 25% more muscle. People treated in the abdominal area can see two to three inches lost from the waist and tighter abdominal muscles. You will see your muscles become more toned and defined after each treatment. The body needs more time to remove damaged fat, so results appear a few weeks after your last treatment.

Is There Any Downtime with Emsculpt NEO®?

You will not have any downtime with Emsculpt NEO®. Your muscles may feel like you have done an intense workout the next day, but this should not limit your activities. This treatment is entirely non-invasive, and you only need a few days for your muscles to rest between sessions.

Am I a Good Candidate for Emsculpt NEO®?

Emsculpt NEO® works for people with a higher BMI than most other treatments. This means that more people make good candidates for Emsculpt NEO® than other body sculpting methods.

How Does IPL Work?

IPL PhotoFacial, Manhattan & New York City

If you have been looking for a way to brighten, clarify, and rejuvenate your complexion, we have your answer. At Manhattan Aesthetics, we offer IPL treatment to give you luminous, younger-looking skin. With no invasive methods, IPL can correct many different superficial skin concerns.

How Does IPL Work?

IPL (intense pulsed light), also called a photofacial, uses light energy like a laser. Unlike a laser, it uses multiple wavelengths to target different types of skin concerns and pigments. Each pulse of light delivers energy to the skin’s surface layers, targeting damaged or hyperpigmented areas. IPL precisely targets problem areas without harming healthy skin.

The heat from IPL also reaches into the skin and triggers collagen development. Collagen provides the skin’s support and firmness, but it declines with age. Increasing collagen production leads to firmer, smoother skin with fewer lines and wrinkles.

ipl laser manhattan

What Can IPL Treat?

You probably think of a clear, radiant complexion when you think of youthful-looking skin. Over time, facial skin accumulates sun damage, loses elasticity, and looks less vibrant. IPL can treat these and many other skin concerns:

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Rosacea
  • Enlarged pores
  • Spider veins
  • Age spots
  • Acne scarring

What is IPL Treatment Like?

Some people describe IPL treatment as feeling like a mild stinging or tingling. At Manhattan Aesthetics, we use cooling gel to maintain your comfort throughout treatment. Treatment takes up to an hour, but this will depend on your individualized plan based on your assessment.

What Results Will I See With IPL?

Most people need a series of treatments to achieve the best results. Your number of treatments depends on the type and severity of your skin concerns. Most people start to see results about a week after the first treatment as pigmented and damaged areas peel and disappear. Your results will develop for the next three to five months as cells continue to produce collagen.

Is There Any Downtime with IPL?

You can resume most normal activities after treatment. You will have redness and peeling for a few days, so you may choose to avoid social activities, but you can return to work or your daily routine. UV rays will cause damage to your skin during healing, so avoid sun exposure during your IPL treatment.

Am I a Good Candidate for IPL?

Almost anyone bothered by a dull, uneven complexion can benefit from IPL. People of any age can enjoy clearer, firmer skin. You may not be a good candidate if you have certain skin conditions or medical conditions.

What is Vivace RF Microneedling?

RF Microneedling Manhattan

Are you ready for microneedling technology that gives you skin resurfacing and deep remodeling in one treatment? Vivace RF microneedling uses radiofrequency energy to trigger results in the deeper layers of skin. By transmitting heat to the skin cells, Vivace signals them to begin a process of repair and rejuvenation.

What is Vivace RF Microneedling?

Vivace RF microneedling goes a step beyond ordinary microneedling. Vivace is a minimally invasive, FDA-cleared microneedling device that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to improve your results. This treatment creates micro-channels in the skin, signaling the surrounding cells to begin the healing process. The needles also transmit radiofrequency energy into the dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Microneedling Manhattan

What Can Vivace RF Microneedling Treat?

Because Vivace RF microneedling treats the surface skin and deeper layers, it can provide more effective facial rejuvenation. Vivace can improve the appearance of:

  • Skin laxity
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Rough, uneven skin tone
  • Dullness
  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation

In addition to the face, Vivace works on areas like the neck, décolletage, and even the hands. You can have this treatment almost anywhere on your body that you want to tighten and smooth the skin.

What is Vivace RF Microneedling Like?

At Manhattan Aesthetics, we use a prescription custom compounded numbing cream to ensure your comfort. You will feel little to no discomfort during treatment once the numbing has an effect. The programmable Vivace system will insert 36 gold-plated needles to a precise depth. These needles will transmit heat to the cells surrounding them, creating controlled areas of damage that initiate collagen production. Treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes, but you should allow some extra time for the numbing cream to take effect.

What Results Will I See With Vivace RF Microneedling?

Your results will take time to develop while your cells produce new collagen. Most people see results a few weeks after their first treatment but continue to progress until six months later. People typically need three treatments four to six weeks apart to see optimal results.

Is There Any Downtime with Vivace RF Microneedling?

You may have some minor redness for a few hours after treatment, but you can resume your normal activities. We will recommend products for you to use following your Vivace treatment. We also recommend daily sunscreen with an SPF 30 or more to protect your skin while it heals.

Am I a Good Candidate for Vivace RF Microneedling?

If you want smoother, firmer, clearer skin, you might be a good candidate for Vivace RF microneedling. Most healthy people can have this treatment safely. If you have an active acne breakout, you may need to wait until it has been resolved.

Botox® VS Dysport®: What are the Differences?

Botox Manhattan

Our facial expressions communicate our emotions to others. They can also cause lines and wrinkles over time. Botox® and Dysport® both relax these expression lines to let you look wrinkle-free and youthful. While overall very similar, they have some differences that may affect which one your provider chooses for you.

What are Botox® and Dysport®?

Both of these products relax facial muscles to release lines and wrinkles. They both use versions of botulinum toxin to stop the signals between your facial muscles and nerves. The skin can relax without movement from the muscles, and wrinkles become smooth.

Botox Manhattan

Botox® VS Dysport®: What are the Differences?

While Botox® and Dysport® work in the same general way, they have differences that affect which one your provider chooses for you.

  • Dysport® may take effect faster, although both develop within a few days.
  • Botox® tends to last longer, with a duration of up to six months.
  • Dysport® spreads more than Botox®, providing natural-looking results.
  • Dysport® treats glabellar lines (horizontal lines between the brows).
  • Botox® treats glabellar lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet around the eyes.
  • Dysport® may cost less than Botox®.

Your Manhattan Aesthetics provider will choose the product that will give you the best results.

How Do Botox® and Dysport® Work?

Expression lines on the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes come from the movement of muscles that move those areas of the face. Botox® and Dysport® interrupt the communication to prevent the muscles from moving and let them relax. Nerves that control the facial muscles use a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine to signal the muscles to contract. The active ingredient in both products stops the action of acetylcholine.

When the muscles relax, they stop pulling on the overlying skin. The skin can relax and become smoother, eliminating the lines and wrinkles that can make you look tired or angry. Because Botox® and Dysport® target specific facial muscles, you will keep your entire range of facial expressions.

Is There Any Downtime with Botox® or Dysport®?

You will not have any downtime after these treatments. Both take only a few minutes to administer. People can have treatment on their lunch break and then return to work afterward. Any minor swelling or bruising should disappear within a few days.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox® or Dysport®?

If you have moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, you may be a good candidate for Botox® or Dysport®. Both have an extensive history of safety and effectiveness. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you may not make a good candidate. People who have had a reaction to a botulinum product in the past are usually not good candidates.

What to Expect After Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers New York City

Do you want to replace lost volume in your cheeks? Maybe you have lines and wrinkles that bother you or thin lips you wish could look plumper. Dermal fillers can address these concerns and give you a smoother, more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers come in several types, so your provider can choose one that will work for you.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers add volume to the facial features. At Manhattan Aesthetics, we offer most types of dermal fillers to help you achieve your desired look. Dermal fillers contain bio-safe materials that rarely cause any reaction from the body. Your aesthetic specialist will inject your dermal filler into the areas that need added volume. This treatment improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles and adds volume for more youthful fullness.

Dermal Fillers Manhattan

What to Expect After Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers require no downtime, and you can return to your regular activities immediately after treatment. You should avoid strenuous exercise for a day or two after treatment while the filler settles. Some people notice swelling or bruising for a few days after their injections, but this is usually minor. You can expect results to appear immediately with some types of dermal fillers, while others can take several weeks or more.

Which Dermal Fillers are Available?

When considering a dermal filler, your provider will consider what results you want, the area of your face, and how fast you want to see results. The best dermal filler for you depends on which formula best targets your problem areas.

Juvederm®

This family of fillers uses hyaluronic acid, a complex sugar that attracts water and holds it in the skin. It includes fillers for lines and wrinkles, deeper creases, lip plumping, and volume restoration.

Restylane®

Also using hyaluronic acid, Restylane® fillers remain stable in their location for months to over a year before breaking down. This family also includes fillers for the lips, cheeks, and wrinkles.

AlloFill®

Unlike other fillers that use synthetic materials, AlloFill® uses purified and sterilized fat cells. These provide immediate volume while stimulating collagen and elastin production for longer-lasting results.

Sculptra®

This dermal filler works especially well for lines in the lower part of the face. It uses poly-L-lactic acid to stimulate collagen production. This leads to results that develop slowly but outlast most other types of fillers.

Radiesse®

This filler uses calcium hydroxylapatite to add immediate volume and trigger collagen production. This provides both rapid and long-lasting results.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dermal Fillers?

Most people make good candidates for dermal fillers. Most dermal filler materials are synthetic versions of those naturally occurring in your body. Let your provider know if you have ever had a reaction to a similar product before.

Where Can Sculptra® Be Injected?

Sculptra Manhattan

Dermal fillers come in many varieties to address different concerns. An unusually versatile dermal filler, Sculptra® works on facial wrinkles, restores volume to the hands, and even lifts your buttocks. Results from Sculptra® outlast most other dermal fillers, making it an increasingly popular choice.

What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is a unique dermal filler that works by triggering the development of new, healthy collagen. Interlinked collagen proteins form the skin’s structural framework, giving it volume, strength, and firmness. By promoting collagen production, Sculptra® improves your skin’s natural tightness and elasticity.

Sculptra New York City

How Does Sculptra® Work?

Sculptra® uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) to stimulate collagen production. This biocompatible material triggers a natural process called fibroplasia, the growth of connective tissue. Some dermal fillers produce immediate results, but the body will clear them away within a year. With Sculptra®, your own cells develop the collagen, so the body will not attempt to clear it away.

Where Can Sculptra® Be Injected?

You can have Sculptra® injected into many areas on the lower part of your face to smooth lines and wrinkles. However, it has other applications most dermal fillers do not offer.

Facial Lines and Wrinkles

Sculptra® works to treat deep lines and wrinkles all over the face, especially those around the nose, mouth, and chin. Marionette lines and nasolabial creases respond to treatment with Sculptra®, and it can also be used for chin lines and even restoring volume to hollow temples.

Hands

Hands get a lot of wear and tear, including sun exposure. This causes the skin to thin with age, making veins more visible. A boost of collagen from Sculptra® can restore a more youthful look to your hands and erase the appearance of prominent veins.

Buttocks

Butt lifts show no signs of declining popularity, but not everyone wants surgery to achieve an enhanced butt. A Sculptra® butt lift works with injections into the buttocks, stimulating collagen production that lifts and firms the area. Results will be more subtle than a more invasive procedure, but a Sculptra® butt lift does not require extensive recovery time.

What Results Will I See With Sculptra®?

Most people will get three to four Sculptra® treatments over a three to four-month period. You will start to see results within a month of your first treatment, and these results will continue to develop even after your last treatment. Sculptra® results can last two to three years, longer than most other dermal fillers, making the results worth the wait.

As your series of treatments progresses, you will see enhanced volume that lifts away lines and wrinkles and smoothes away visible hand veins. For those who choose a Sculptra® butt lift, you will see a subtle but noticeable lift, fullness, and roundness of your buttocks.

Is There Any Downtime With Sculptra®?

Sculptra® does not require any downtime. You might have some bruising or swelling after your injections, but you can return to work or resume your daily activities.

Botox® VS Xeomin®: What are the Differences?

Xeomin New York City

Botox® and Xeomin® are injectables sometimes referred to as wrinkle relaxers or neurotoxins. Both offer a fast, effective way to smooth expression lines and wrinkles away. While the name Botox® has become synonymous with neurotoxin injectables, Xeomin® contains a more refined version of the botulinum toxin.

What are Botox® and Xeomin®?

Our facial expressions etch lines and wrinkles into areas like the forehead, brows, and around the eyes as we age. Smiling, frowning, and laughing cause muscles to pull on the skin. Botox® and Xeomin® temporarily stop the activity of these muscles, letting the skin relax and smoothing out even deep lines and wrinkles.

Botox Manhattan

How Do Botox® and Xeomin® Work?

Botox® and Xeomin® operate using the same mechanism. They interact with the nerves that operate the facial muscles. When injected into a targeted muscle, they stop the nerves from sending signals telling the muscles to contract. Because injections use only a tiny amount of the product, treatment can target the muscles causing lines and wrinkles without affecting your natural facial expressions.

Botox® vs. Xeomin®: What are the Differences?

The primary difference between Botox® vs. Xeomin® is that Botox® uses a version of the botulinum toxin bound to other proteins, while Xeomin® contains a purer version of the molecule. For people who prefer no unnecessary extras in their injectables, Xeomin offers a more purified alternative.

Some people find that Botox® loses its effectiveness over many years while Xeomin® may not. It is possible that the accessory proteins in Botox® desensitize the body over a long period, while the purified Xeomin® formula may not trigger the same effect. Your Manhattan Aesthetics provider will discuss your options and choose the best formula for you.

Where can Botox® and Xeomin® Be Used?

The most common uses for Xeomin® and Botox® include crow’s feet around the eyes, vertical lines between the brows, and horizontal forehead lines. While dermal fillers work on static wrinkles such as those caused by gravity, wrinkle relaxers work on dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement.

Botox® and Xeomin® can even prevent dynamic wrinkles when you start using them at a younger age. The more time your skin has without pulling and tugging, the longer it will take lines and wrinkles to develop. A treatment session a few times a year can keep you looking young and fresh-faced.

Is There Any Downtime With Botox® or Xeomin®?

There is no downtime with either of these injectables. Botox® and other injectables make popular “lunchtime” treatments that you can get on your lunch break before going back to work. Any minor bruising or swelling will fade within a day or two.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox® and Xeomin®?

If you have or want to prevent expression lines and wrinkles, you are most likely a good candidate for Botox® or Xeomin®. If you are pregnant, nursing, or have certain neuromuscular conditions, you should not use these products.

What Causes Hyperpigmentation?

IPL-Manhattan

If you find yourself bothered by dark spots or patches on your skin, you have treatment options. Hyperpigmentation happens when skin cells produce too much pigment. You can treat your hyperpigmentation with several methods depending on your skin type and individual needs.

What is Hyperpigmentation?

A variety of triggers can cause patches of skin cells to produce excessive amounts of a pigment called melanin. While patches of hyperpigmentation are usually harmless, they can make you self-conscious. People of all skin tones can develop hyperpigmentation.

What Causes Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation can result from sun exposure. UV radiation triggers cells to produce melanin. This can cause you to develop a tan, but it can also cause long-lasting dark patches of skin on sun-exposed areas like the face and hands. This is the most preventable form of hyperpigmentation.

Hormones can also trigger excess melanin production. Birth control or pregnancy can cause hormonal changes that produce hyperpigmentation called melasma. This will often but not always fade after pregnancy. Hyperpigmentation also occurs as a result of inflammation. A post-inflammatory reaction causes the skin to produce a dark spot in response to inflammation such as acne.

How Can I Get Rid of Hyperpigmentation?

We offer several effective methods of hyperpigmentation treatment and dark spot removal. The best treatment for you will depend on your expert provider’s assessment of your hyperpigmentation concerns.

IPL PhotoFacial

This treatment uses wavelengths of intense pulsed light (IPL) that targets areas of pigmentation without affecting the surrounding skin. The energy from the pulsed light breaks up pigment molecules so the body can remove them.

Chemical Peels

Manhattan Aesthetics offers chemical peels that remove the outer layers of skin and trigger skin renewal. With a series of three to four peels, you can see fading of recent and older hyperpigmentation spots.

Aerolase®

This non-invasive laser treatment uses pulses lasting only a billionth of a second to trigger the intensive collagen production and skin rejuvenation. The laser energy does not harm the surrounding skin, making it a safe and painless way to treat severe hyperpigmentation such as melasma or rosacea.

Excel V+

This laser targets brown, red, blue, and purple pigmentation to address spider veins, melasma, and rosacea. Many people report that each pulse feels like the snap of a rubber band. The targeted pigments will break up and fade away while the surrounding skin remains undamaged.

Is There Any Downtime With Hyperpigmentation Treatment?

These treatments involve little to no downtime. Since sun exposure causes hyperpigmentation, you will need to avoid the sun and wear a dermatologist-recommended sunscreen after treatment. You may have some redness or sensitivity lasting a day to a few days after treatment.

Am I a Good Candidate for Hyperpigmentation Treatment?

You are almost certainly a good candidate for hyperpigmentation treatment with our variety of options. Talk to your provider if you have a skin condition like psoriasis or eczema.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Dermal Fillers, Manhattan, & New York City

If you want to smooth out lines and wrinkles, restore lost facial volume, or improve the appearance of your features, dermal fillers can help. Injected under the skin, dermal fillers add volume that can enhance facial features and even areas elsewhere on the body.

Dermal Fillers New York City

What are Dermal Fillers?

Made of materials that will not react with the body, dermal fillers add volume and create a fuller, smoother appearance. One of our experienced aestheticians will inject the filler under the skin, and it will, immediately or over time, increase volume in the area. Dermal fillers can even produce enhancements such as lifted, fuller buttocks.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers come in several different materials and formulas, each suited for different applications. These include:

Juvederm®

The Juvederm® family of dermal fillers works using hyaluronic acid. It includes several formulas, such as:

  • Juvederm® Volbella for plumper, fuller lips
  • Juvederm® Vollure for smoothing lines around the mouth and nose
  • Juvederm® Voluma to add volume in the cheeks and other areas

Restylane®

Another popular family of dermal fillers, Restylane®, can enhance the lips, fill out the cheeks, and smooth away lines and wrinkles. It uses different formulations of hyaluronic acid.

Radiesse®

Versatile and long-lasting, Radiesse® uses calcium hydroxylapatite to add immediate volume and increase collagen production over time for continuous improvements.

Sculptra®

A unique formulation of Poly-L-Lactic acid, Sculptra® works well in many areas, but at Manhattan Aesthetics, we use it to offer the Sculptra® butt lift, a nonsurgical, subtle buttock enhancement.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Different types of dermal fillers have different lifespans. The body will eventually remove all dermal fillers, but some produce results that last even after they fade away. Hyaluronic acid fillers can generally last anywhere from six months to two years. Flexible formulas such as those intended for the lips will last six to twelve months, while sturdier fillers can last eighteen months or longer.

Materials like calcium hydroxylapatite and Poly-L-Lactic acid, contained in Radiesse® and Sculptra®, stimulate collagen production. This collagen adds volume and firmness to the skin, lifting sagging areas and smoothing lines and wrinkles. These fillers and the resulting collagen can last two to three years.

Is There Any Downtime With Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers require no downtime. You can resume activities immediately after your injections. You may notice some swelling, bruising, or soreness for a day or two. The lack of downtime makes the Sculptra® butt lift an appealing alternative for those looking to avoid the extensive downtime of a surgical butt lift.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a safe and popular way to restore or enhance facial features as well as other parts of the body. If you have lines and wrinkles or want to restore lost volume, you may be a good candidate for dermal fillers. People who want to add volume and enhance their features may also make good candidates.
